The Sun Herald reports that "VISA check card interchange income increased by 44.3% to $1.4 million for the first quarter of 2008, up from $1.0 million in the first quarter of 2007." These fees have reduced the profits of small businesses such as gas stations and are now the subject of Congressional review.
